Day 1: Yerevan (Arrival)
After your arrival at the airport, you will be transferred to the hotel in Yerevan and checked in. Overnight in Yerevan
Day 2: Yerevan
Discover the ancient charm of Yerevan, one of the world’s oldest cities, founded in 782 BC. Start your day with a delicious hotel breakfast before exploring the city’s highlights. Known as “the pink city” for its unique pink stone buildings, Yerevan offers a perfect blend of history and character.
Begin your adventure at the impressive Cascade Monument, a giant staircase with stunning city views. Explore the Matenadaran Museum’s rich collection of manuscripts and visit key landmarks like the Opera House, Republic Square, and Abovyan Avenue, adding to Yerevan’s vibrant atmosphere.
Then we will take a short trip to Echmiadzin town, a significant religious hub, and visit the Echmiadzin Cathedral, one of the world’s earliest Christian cathedrals, built in 301 AD. Admire its historical importance as the seat of the Supreme Patriarch of the Catholicos of all Armenians, housing the Holy Lance spear. This UNESCO site is a testament to Armenia’s cultural heritage.
Wrap up your day with a visit to the Zvartnots temple ruins, a 7th-century marvel and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Yerevan for a warm welcome dinner, reflecting on your day’s discoveries. Overnight in Yerevan
Day 3: Khor Virap-Areni-Jermuk
On the fourth day, explore southern Armenia in Ararat Province. Visit the renowned Khor Virap Monastery, a holy site for the Armenian Apostolic Church and a significant pilgrimage destination. This is where Armenia’s Christian history began, with Gregory the Illuminator imprisoned underground for 13 years in the 3rd century. His release marked Armenia’s conversion to Christianity, making it one of the earliest Christian nations.
Proceed to Areni village in Vayots Dzor, known as the winemaking center of Armenia. Taste various wines at a local winery. The day concludes in Jermuk, a mountain resort town famous for its hot mineral springs and picturesque scenery. Overnight in Jermuk
Day 4: Karahunj – Tatev – Khndzoresk – Goris
After breakfast, head to Karahunj, a 7500-year-old observatory in Syunik Province, often referred to as the Armenian Stonehenge. Continue your journey to Tatev Monastery, a medieval center of learning in the 14th and 15th centuries. Explore the site and take the opportunity to ride the world’s longest cable car, spanning 5.7 km over the 320-meter-deep Vorotan River Canyon.
Pause at the natural bridge known as “Devil’s Bridge” before visiting Khndzoresk, known for its ancient cave dwellings used until the 1950s. These rocky hills served as homes and storage spaces for food. Conclude the tour and return to Goris. Overnight in Goris
Day 5: Goris-Noravank-Yerevan
Today we will drive back to the capital city of Yerevan. On our way we will drive through a narrow canyon to the red rock valley, where Noravank Monastery awaits. Moreover, we will have a look at Areni-1 cave, which has yielded a wealth of archaeological discoveries, including well-preserved artifacts, ancient human remains, and evidence of early agricultural practices. Overnight in Yerevan
Day 6: Yerevan (Departure)
